On November 22, 2008 I was fortunate enough to witness 5 migrating Whooping Cranes at the Kyker Bottom Refuge. Kyker is a TWRA managed refuge with a primary mission for bird habitat. It is believed that these are just the third reported Whooping Crane sighting in Blount County, Tennessee
